Contre Lumiere is the 13minute video piece which breaks down into 4 performances. I pose and distort the body to suggest/point at the stereotypes and signifiers that have become automatically entrenched in our minds. I poke fun, in every respect, at their two dimentionality and how viewers might read the male body.

The Neutral Mask

The Neutral Mask is a response to Erving Goffman''s book, The Presentation Of The Self In Everyday Life and William Kentridge's coment, talking about his own work, refers to something similar called The Neutral Mask, the removal of reliance on recognition . . In the video I employ the symbolic objects of mask and mirror (Alice Through the Looking Glass) to explore the self and the body. The focus being on the act of concealment and revelation.
